Supporting Salina Families with Essential Infant Nutrition

The Kansas Impact Coalition (KIC) is proud to partner with Meagan Rico, public-health educator (MSN, RN) with the Saline County Health Department, to address a critical community need: access to infant formula.

This Infant Formula Drive ensures that families with infants in Salina have reliable access to safe, nutritious formula, reducing the stress and health risks caused by shortages or cost barriers. The initiative aligns with KIC’s mission of providing essential resources, education, and health support to families across the community.

How the Drive Works

  • Collection of Formula: Donations are gathered through KIC-coordinated drop-off locations (details available below).

  • Distribution: Families in need receive formula through KIC’s outreach channels, ensuring safe, no-barrier access.

  • Timeline: The drive runs through the middle of November or however long necessary, creating a focused, community-driven campaign to maximize impact.

“This is about ensuring every baby in our community has the nutrition they need to thrive,” says Meagan Rico, lead organizer.

Drop-Off Locations

(Exact addresses will be posted/updated as confirmed, for community convenience currently coordinated with KIC and Meagan Rico’s network.)

Why It Matters

  • Infant health: Formula is essential for infants who cannot be exclusively breastfed, and cost or availability barriers can have serious health consequences.

  • Community support: This drive exemplifies KIC’s commitment to holistic community care, connecting families not only with food but with health and social services.

  • Partnerships: By collaborating with Meagan Rico and local organizations, KIC ensures that formula reaches those who need it most in a safe, trusted, and equitable way.

How You Can Help

  • Donate formula: Any new, unopened infant formula is welcome.

  • Volunteer: Help with collection, sorting, or delivery.

  • Spread the word: Encourage neighbors, friends, and local businesses to participate.
